LES TENDANCES 2020 EN AVANT-PREMIERE A PARIS

July 18, 2019

Unique by Mode City, the must-see event for swimwear, lingerie and resortwear fashions, has set the tone for the new season. The show unveiled a diverse range of products, boosted by the arrival of new brands with strong concepts: Crème, Maliluha, MySportLondon, Mission Swim, Mina Storm, Paramidonna, Batiche, Milakrasna, Mapoésie Paris, Miel Melba, Alawa Swimwear, etc. Travelling to Paris from all over the world, buyers were won over by minimalism, comfort and the “new vintage”.

L’ère du easy to wear

The easy-to-wear era

The market continues to develop under the influence of a younger generation which is moving towards more meaningful purchasing. This is the era of easy-to-wear clothing, unrestricted by gender, style or regularity. Fashion offers the body more freedom with a combination of simplicity and technical prowess, the two key criteria in today’s easywear. Both intimates and swimwear deliver long-lasting comfort while keeping a close eye on aesthetics and style. Soft and light, “second skin” swimwear and underwear sidestep the superficial with streamlined cuts and architectural lines, in harmony with a hyper modern minimalist trend. Despite the dynamic and active feel of silhouettes, they do not shy away from sophistication: from minimal constructions to couture designs.

The renewal of vintage

Alongside this desire for simplicity and quest for meaning, designers are taking inspiration from iconic vintage pieces to offer creative designs, a certain idea of leisure fashion, where personal style plays a stronger role with less standardization and conventionality.  Under the vintage influence, prints explore micro patterns, whether tie-style geometrics or tiny florals which revisit Liberty. Mix and match options accentuate this retro aspect.

Volumes go bold

Swimwear and resortwear designs are ever more striking, increasingly synonymous with fun and celebration. Women want to show off their figure to optimal effect, create a summer look and add a little drama to the everyday during the precious summer months.

High-volume, ultra photogenic frills satisfy a need for femininity, for varying degrees of romance. Swimwear with a definite couture feel!

Style focus

Next summer will confirm the return of high-waisted bikinis which are omnipresent in collections. These have become synonymous with transgenerational swimwear. Paired back or retro, they flatter all different figures and can be worn with a mismatched top for a younger aesthetic.

Reinvention is at its most impressive in cropped tops, alongside triangle and bandeau styles. Lacing, strapping, smocking, buttons and asymmetric designs provide a stark contrast with 100% minimal styles.

Something of an outsider option, surfsuits should not be overlooked. Ideal for water-sports, long-sleeved bodysuits look to ready-to-wear for inspiration. A versatile, often reversible addition to the beach wardrobe, they are increasingly popular with shoppers who are finding innovative new ways to wear and style them.

Colour focus

Two contrasting ranges of colours and harmonies are on offer this season. The choice is yours!

One range takes inspiration from vibrant shades with patterns playing a key role. High-colour essentials where anything’s possible!

ANJA PARIS, CARDO, HISTORIA NATURAL, BANANA MOON, TATIANE DE FREITAS, TOOSHIE, AUBADE

The other range is inspired by neutrals and muted shades for easy colour combinations. Harmonies take inspiration from the beauty industry in a celebration of balance and contrast.

22 PARADISE, MEW SWIM, ALAWA SWIMWEAR, SOWE BIARRITZ….

Plains are also stealing the scene from prints to dazzling effect. Two or three-colour compositions and ‘lamé’ monochrome offer the most vibrant aesthetics in high-colour swimwear.
